Finally some trout fishing!

Post  Maddox on 2012-09-06, 11:18

Ok, so I know I have been radio silent for most of the summer and I have a whole book of excuses for why that is, but with the hunting season almost upon us I am starting to get pumped up. Even though life has been pretty hectic over the last month or so I have actually gotten it in gear and ventured out for some hunting prep and trout fishing.

Lets start with the trout fishing. So we got into camp on Friday night and settled in where I decided to pull out the fly rod and dig around for some flies. In my younger years I hand tied many flies and so I was hoping to find a box or two lying around. I ended up finding this old box of flies, who knows where it came from, that had about 3 useable dry flies in it. I was thinking I could make this work since our trout stream isn't getting any pressure these days, so off to pull out my rod. As I start looking around I can't find it anywhere, so I come across this old Walmart "full fly rod package" and I go with that. Funny thing about all of this is that, not only did I used to tie all of my own flies, I also built a very nice graphite rod, I am in total degraded mode here! In any event I am ready to hit the water the next day.

The next day we were prepping for hunting, hanging stands, a feeder, cameras etc (that's another story) and when evening got here Big J and I hit the creek. Big J had agreed to run camera on this one which would hopefully give us our first video from BDB productions(In case you all haven't heard we have big plans! Laughing).

I ended up catching 4 trout, no keepers, but had a great evening. It's funny how much I realized I miss being out there, I am thinking I need to start making more time for fishing over the spring and summer months. We were up at camp again 2 weeks later where I headed out again only catching 3 with one keeper (I put him back).

BDB Productions 1st catch on film!

Nice job Big J on the first video. I need to work on getting the h&ll out of the way! Very Happy
